Tribute of Respect

At a meeting of Company E, 27th Regt. N. C. Infantry, the following preamble and resolutions were unanimously adopted:

WHEREAS, It has pleased God in His wisdom and providence to remove from our midst, our comrade in arms, Wm. C. Clapp, who died at his father’s residence in Guilford county, N. C. August 3rd 1862, aged 21 years, 1 month and ten days.  Therefore,

Resolved, That in his death the south has lost a true and noble son, and defender of her soil, whose devotion to his country, has been sealed by his life; that we feel, that we have lost a companion, whose duty was performed on all occasions, and whose qualities, both of head and heart, endeared him to us.

Resolved, That we tender to the family and friends of our comrade, our sincere and heartfelt sympathy, in this, their sad bereavement, and assure them, that we shall ever cherish his memory.

Sergt. Wm. U. STEINER, Com.

Corpl. M. PAISLEY, Com.

Pri. R. S. COBLE, Com.

Pri. W. F. HUNTER, Com.

Pri. JAS. A HARDEN, Com.
